Another Christmas with Connery
A Second Conversation with Sir Sean
Last Christmas, I wrote about the incredible stroke of luck I had when, in 1991, I was given five minutes to interview Sir Sean Connery in Mexico on the set of Medicine Man. If you missed that one because you subscribed since then, here it is. You can read about the meeting and listen to the interview.
While going through my hard drive, I found a second interview that I had assumed was long gone, this one on the set of The Russia House, the 1992 adaptation of John LeCarre’s thriller. This was the first major motion picture filmed in Moscow, but I was able to grab five minutes with Connery in London in December of 1991, when he was filming interiors. As with the other interview, there’s some tape hiss but I managed to clean up the audio. When, during our conversation, he received a call from a fellow actor who had just played the villain in what was the most highly-anticipated superhero film of the decade, Connery put him on speakerphone, so I was able to record that, as well. Needless to say, I sat there in disbelief that I could hear two of my favorite actors talk about their Christmas traditions.
Best wishes of the season from Pages and Frames and Fifteen-Minute Film Fanatics.
