Grateful Dead are the quintessential American rock band.

I’m not certain that the America that Robert Hunter wrote of was real, but I sure like to believe it was.

This is fantastic. This is also my favorite Grateful Dead song and Hunter lyrics. I never tire of it. Another of Hunter's inverted syntax I enjoy is "stay 72 come shine or rain." A national treasure.
